For centuries, Ubi Caritas has been sung as a traditional Latin hymn, often during the washing of feet on Maundy Thursday. Its text expresses the belief that where there is selfless charity and love, God is present. Because of its universal message, countless composers have created musical settings of Ubi Caritas.

This modern setting, written in 2006, has been performed by choirs around the world. It was a flagship work on several international tours by the Brigham Young University–Hawaii Concert Choir and remains a favorite among singers.

Ubi caritas est vera, Deus ibi est.
Congregavit nos is unum Christi amor.
Exultemus, et in ipso iucundemur Timeamus, et amemus Deum vivum.
Et ex corde diligamus nos sincero.

Translation:
Where charity and love is true, God is there. Christ’s love has gathered us into one.
Let us rejoice and be pleased in Him.
Let us fear, and let us love the living God.
And may we love each other with a sincere heart.
